Making of a Model

November 13, 2015

I am always excited to get the opportunity to photograph this beautiful and dynamic young lady. I have known her all her life and consider her family. So when I got a call she needed some photos to put in a model portfolio, I knew it would be easy to get lots of great images.

I took the opportunity to use some of her poses in composites. I knew I had a couple of images that I had already taken to create what would look like a trip on an African safari. She had a suitcase that belonged to her grandmother and I had old cameras given to me by a friend. I took the grass pictures in the front yard of the studio. The sunset was snapped from the parking lot of Julie's Bakery through my windshield.

The resulting composite has a warm romantic feel to it. The fun is in the experimentation. It's great to have someone who is involved in the creative experience.

Her aviator glasses make me want to go out and get a picture of an airplane to use for a future composite. But for the last image I used a couple of shots from a photo walk at Hendrix village to add a background.

The soft focus and color treatment gave it a look straight out of an old movie.

I have other ideas in mind and am glad to have such a talented subject to use as my muse. Looking forward to more projects in the future!
